I have a Mac (Hackintosh) running Parallels 10, a hard drive from my old Windows 7 laptop, and a USB to SATA adapter. I want to run Windows in Parallels off the hard drive. Make Windows invisible while still using its applications in Coherence mode. If you’re new to Mac, you can set Windows to occupy your entire screen, so it looks just like it would if you were using a Windows PC. I plugged the HD into the adapter and into the computer, and Mac recognizes there is a 500GB Hitachi HD attached. Parallels, however, fails to find the drive. I want to run Windows from the HD in Parallels. Even at boot-up Mac shows me the hard drive but when I try to boot from it, Windows starts to load and then crashes. I am running a Windows 7 VM on a Mac OS X Yosemite host OS. I am looking to 'drag and drop' files between a network share accessed through the Windows 7 VM onto folders and applications in the Mac OS X Yosemite host OS. ![]() When I drag and drop files from Windows Explorer located at //MyServer/MyShare/, Mac OS X can't access the file. When I drag and drop files from Windows Explorer in the Parallels 'shared volumes' folder located at //PSF/Host/Volumes/MyServerAlias/, Mac OS X correctly accesses the files.
